Heather Brent Obituary, Death; – The family of a Calgary woman who tragically lost her life in a hit-and-run incident this week is expressing gratitude to the road crews and first responders who came to her aid.
Heather Brent passed away on Tuesday night on Stoney Trail near Nose Hill Drive NW after her vehicle was struck by a semi-truck, resulting in her being ejected from the car. While roadway maintenance workers were assisting her, she was subsequently struck by another truck and succumbed to her injuries before reaching the hospital.
In an online obituary, Brent’s family shared that the 57-year-old was a dedicated nurse, survived by her husband and several siblings. Although she resided in Calgary, she worked at a long-term care facility in Hanna after earning her RN degree from Mount Royal University in 2012.
The obituary describes her as “compassionate and loving,” noting that Heather devoted herself to the care and happiness of those around her. “She was the uniting bond who held her family close,” it states.
The family also extended their thanks to the Carmacks Roadway maintenance workers, as well as the Calgary police, fire, and EMS personnel who provided assistance during her final moments. The 25-year-old driver of the semi-truck has been charged with hit-and-run resulting in death and is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
