Shawn Parrish Obituary, Death; – An 80-year-old man from California is facing accusations of shooting and killing another individual in what authorities in Northern California have described as a “turkey hunting” incident.
On Monday, the Sutter County Sheriff’s Office shared on Facebook that officers responded to a call at the Fremont Wier Wildlife Area in Knights Landing, California, on Sunday afternoon. This wildlife area is situated approximately 20 miles northwest of Sacramento.
Upon their arrival, law enforcement discovered 65-year-old Shawn Parrish with a gunshot wound to the back of his head. He was declared dead at the scene. According to police, John Lee allegedly discharged his shotgun into the underbrush without proper aim, “hoping to shoot a turkey.” However, instead of hitting a bird, Lee reportedly shot Parrish, who was also engaged in turkey hunting at that moment.
The sheriff’s office has taken Lee into custody on charges of second-degree murder and negligent discharge of a firearm. Online records indicate that he is being held on a $1 million bond, and local news sources report that his arraignment is set for Wednesday.
