The Northwestern District Attorney’s Office has identified the woman who was killed by a freight train on Monday as 45-year-old Jennifer Jarvis of Greenfield. Jarvis was struck and killed by a Berkshire & Eastern Railroad freight train around half a mile from the Bardwell’s Ferry Bridge at approximately 5 a.m. She was pronounced dead around 5:30 a.m., according to DA spokesperson Laurie Loisel. At about 12:34 p.m. today, Scottsbluff Police officers were dispatched to the intersection of East 27th Street and Highway 26 in response to a motor vehicle accident. The collision involved a single vehicle and a sport motorcycle. Dispatch advised that the rider of the motorcycle was not breathing and did not have a pulse. Lifesaving measures were attempted by the Scottsbluff Fire Department, Regional West Ambulance Services, and a registered nurse who stopped to assist.
