Kenneth Beno Obituary, Death;- Warren police have made public body-camera footage related to an officer-involved shooting that occurred earlier this week, resulting in the death of a suspect who was armed with a knife. The Warren Police Department shared the video on Thursday, detailing the incident that led to the fatal shooting of a 41-year-old man.
As reported by the police, they received a call around 10 p.m. on Monday regarding a domestic violence situation. The female victim informed the authorities that the suspect was armed with a knife and was hiding beneath a bed. Upon arrival, officers found that the suspect, later identified as Kenneth Beno, had already left the premises.
Officers located Beno on railroad tracks adjacent to the residence, and the body-camera footage captures them instructing him to drop the knife and lie on the ground. After deploying a taser, which proved ineffective, Beno continued to advance towards the officers, prompting them to discharge their firearms.
Following the shooting, police handcuffed Beno as per standard protocol before conducting a search. They initiated medical assistance and contacted the fire department, which transported him to a hospital where he subsequently succumbed to his injuries.
Authorities noted that Beno had multiple outstanding warrants, including charges for assaulting police and domestic violence, and that they had previously interacted with him regarding various incidents, including mental health crises and suicide attempts.
