Atlanta, GA – A tragic incident unfolded near DaBomb Sports Grill in Lithonia, DeKalb County, early Saturday morning, leading to a deadly shooting investigation by the local police.
The distressing event occurred around 3:45 a.m., with law enforcement and a crime scene investigation van promptly arriving at the scene outside the popular sports bar located off Evans Mill Road.
Details of the incident are scant as officers have yet to release official comments. However, the situation escalated to the point where a funeral home van was observed transporting a body from the location, signaling the fatal nature of the shooting.
The owner of DaBomb Sports Grill recounted the events leading up to the tragic outcome, noting that it began when two men, identified as brothers, were denied access to a bathroom at a nearby Waffle House. Seeking relief, they approached DaBomb Sports Grill, where they were informed by the establishment’s security guard that entry required a fee. Opting not to enter, the men ventured into the adjacent wooded area behind a Citgo gas station to relieve themselves.
It was in this secluded spot that a confrontation reportedly occurred, resulting in one of the brothers being fatally shot by what was described by the sports bar’s owner as a homeless individual. The owner further claimed that the establishment’s surveillance cameras captured the harrowing incident.
As the DeKalb County community reels from this senseless act of violence, the police investigation is ongoing, with efforts to piece together the circumstances that led to the shooting. The community, along with the victim’s family and friends, awaits answers and justice for the loss of life in what began as a simple quest for basic amenities.
