Woman suffers apparent gunshot wound to her shin; here’s where Hartford police found her

A woman suffered what is believed to be a gunshot wound to her shin area just after midnight Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, police said.

Hartford Police Department officers assigned to The Bushnell Park area found the woman suffering from an injury to her left shin area, Lt. Aaron Boisvert said. They found her just before 12:15 a.m.

The victim, a female in her 50s, was taken to an area hospital for treatment, police said.

“Once at the hospital, hospital staff notified the police that the wound was believed to be a gunshot wound,” Boisvert said.

There were events taking place a the park through the evening, including In the two hours leading up to 12 a.m. fireworks, music events at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch included a 10 p.m. concert by Indigo Folly, the winner of a Battle of the Bands event earlier this year, and an 11 p.m. set by local jazz giants The Rahsaan Langley Project. Boisvert did not say whether the woman had attended any event.

The Hartford Police Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions responded and assumed the investigation, he said.
