Authorities confirmed that an 18-year-old was killed on Sunday afternoon after being struck by the propeller of a boat, according to a news release from the NJ State Police.
The police said that Zeina Mahafzah of Wayne was being pushed by a boat on a raft. According to the authorities, the 18-year-old was trying to board the boat when she was struck by the propeller, which caused her fatal injuries.
The cause of death was listed as a “tragic boating accident” by Harvey Cedars police.
According to the New Jersey State Police, who are leading the investigation, the incident occurred in the water at Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars Boro on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. In the waters outside Sunset Park in Harvey Cedars Boro, Ocean County, on August 25, 2024, at around 4:30 p.m., troopers responded to a vessel incident, according to a press release from the New Jersey State Police.
A preliminary inquiry revealed that a female boater was being dragged by a boat while on a raft. She was hit by the ship’s propeller while trying to get on board.
The victim, Zeina Mahafzah, an 18-year-old from Wayne, New Jersey, died as a result of the impact. There is currently no more information available regarding the incident, which is still being investigated.
