Jacksonville Police said an investigation is underway following a wreck involving a pedestrian Thursday. In a news release to WNCT, Jacksonville Police said the crash happened around 9pm Thursday. “Initial reports state a 2019 RAM truck was traveling northwest in the far right lane of NC 53 when it collided with a pedestrian, later identified as a juvenile,” the release stated.
Initially. the juvenile was taken to Naval Medical Center, Camp Lejeune with life-threatening injuries. The victim was then taken to another medical facility for treatment, but later died at the hospital. “This is an open and active investigation,” stated Lieutenant Phillip Williams, a JPD Traffic Supervisor. Police say that a teenage girl is dead after being hit by a truck in one Eastern Carolina city. Jacksonville police say around 8:54 p.m. Thursday, officers went to the scene of a crash with serious injuries involving a pedestrian. Police say initial reports show a 2019 RAM truck was heading northwest in the far right lane of Highway 53 near Forum Road when it hit a pedestrian that they say was a 17-year-old girl. The teen was taken to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune with life threatening injuries and was later transported to another hospital for care. Police say the teen died at the hospital. We’re told that next of kin has been told of the teen’s death.
