Xavier Williams Obituary, Death; – A physical altercation preceded the shooting death of a man on Interstate 95 in Broward County on Sunday, according to officials.
The Broward Sheriff’s Office reported that gunfire erupted at approximately 6:13 p.m. on the southbound lanes of I-95, just north of Oakland Park Boulevard. A man was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, including one to the neck. He was subsequently transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
The deceased has been identified as 35-year-old Xavier Williams from Miami. Investigators revealed that Williams had been involved in a confrontation with a woman at a residence in Pompano Beach prior to the incident. The woman departed with another man, and during their time on I-95, that man allegedly fired his weapon, hitting Williams.
The individual who discharged the firearm remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation, asserting that the shooting was an act of self-defense, as stated by the BSO. His identity has not been disclosed. It will be up to prosecutors to decide if any charges will be brought against him.
