Willie Russell Obituary, – The individual involved in a fatal shootout with Fayetteville police following an hours-long standoff on Tuesday has been identified as Shakoor Quayon Williams, aged 33. Williams was a suspect in the murder of Willie Russell that took place on May 12 in the 2000 block of Seneca Drive.
On Tuesday morning at approximately 9:20 a.m., Fayetteville police made an attempt to serve Williams with warrants related to the murder along the 5700 block of Ivanhoe Court. Williams barricaded himself inside the residence for an extended period and did not respond to the crisis negotiation team.
After nearly four hours of negotiation attempts, shots were fired from the residence around 1 p.m. Williams emerged from the apartment armed and confronted the officers present, resulting in an exchange of gunfire. The State Bureau of Investigations reported that one of its agents was involved in the incident, and SBI believes that all four officers discharged their weapons.
