Willie Floyd Perdue Obituary, Death; – A man was fatally shot in Lamar County early Tuesday morning following an altercation with another individual, as reported by Lamar County Coroner James Tillery. According to Tillery, 55-year-old Willie Floyd Perdue was shot around 12:55 a.m. on Warner Road, located in unincorporated Lamar County.
Tillery indicated that Perdue engaged in a confrontation with a man, later identified by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations as 42-year-old Jacob Benjamin Craft, who subsequently shot him. In a press release, the GBI characterized the incident as “a brief confrontation,” which culminated in Perdue being shot multiple times in the street.
Tillery pronounced Perdue dead shortly before 5 a.m. at Atrium Health Navicent. Upon their arrival, Lamar County deputies quickly apprehended Craft after determining that he was the individual responsible for Perdue’s death. He has since been booked into the Lamar County Jail.
Craft faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. The Lamar County Sheriff’s Office has requested the GBI to conduct an investigation.
