About five blocks from his house in the Riverside neighborhood of Reading, a 43-year-old man was trying to cross Centre Avenue when he was struck and killed by a car late on Monday, according to the police.
Investigators reported that a member of the Berks County coroner’s office declared William Roberts dead at the site of the collision near Riverside Elementary School.
There is no crosswalk between Pike and Amity streets, where the collision occurred at around 10:10 p.m.
This statement was given by Reading police in the crash report ,Roberts was attempting to cross Route 61 at the 1400 block of Centre Avenue. The posted top speed restriction is 35 mph. Roberts was hit by a car driven by a Reading lady, 20, in the southbound lane. She wasn’t injured .
