Death Notice – In a somber moment of reflection, we bid farewell to William “Bill” J. Kennedy, a beloved member of our community, who peacefully passed away at the age of 67 on Friday, February 2, 2024, surrounded by his family at home. Born on October 11, 1956, in Joliet, Illinois, Bill leaves behind a legacy of warmth, camaraderie, and a deep commitment to community service.
Bill was a graduate of Joliet East High School and pursued higher education at Eastern Illinois University. His zest for life manifested in various ways, notably through his love for skiing and cycling. He found joy in the thrill of the mountains and the freedom of cycling, engaging with the Joliet Ski Club and the Joliet Bicycle Club.
Bill’s compassionate heart led him to volunteer at a local shelter in Joliet, exemplifying his commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. A strategic mind and social spirit, he also enjoyed bridge games and shared experiences with friends and family, especially during football games as an avid Bears fan.
Bill is survived by his sisters and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. A funeral service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, at Forsythe Gould Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Manhattan. As we reflect on the life of William “Bill” J. Kennedy, let us remember his vibrant spirit, his dedication to family and community, and the joy he brought to all those fortunate enough to have known him. May he rest in eternal peace.
