William Hanna Death –A. Brigham S. William On March 27, 2024, “Bill” Hanna, who resided in Louisville, Kentucky, passed away at the age of 90. He was born in Schenectady, New York on November 8, 1933. His parents, Robert and Elizabeth Hanna, both passed away before his birth. The summers of his childhood were spent on Clear Lake in Indiana, where he was accompanied by his older brother Robert, his younger sister Judy, and a large number of his close cousins.
Bill spent nearly thirty years working in sales for GE Appliances, during which time he also served in the United States Army and attended Alfred University. In 1955, he tied the knot with Frances Ettinger, and he was a devoted husband and father to three children: Patricia Ann, William Brigham Jr., and Michael Blair. Bill served as the Commissioner of the Naperville Little League for the 27 years that the family lived in Naperville, Illinois, where they spent their whole lives.
Following the passing of his wife in 1987, Bill went on to marry Barbara Kinney in 1988 and relocate to Louisville, Kentucky in order to begin a new phase of his life. Following his retirement from General Electric, he began a career in woodworking and participated in the Lake Forest County Club in a significant capacity. Although he played golf frequently, he was known as “The Commish.” In his honor, the Massachusetts Golf Association (MGA) continues to carry out an annual competition known as “The Commish Cup,” and the “Bill Hanna Bridge” is now being built on hole 17.
In the year 2020, Bill experienced his second time of being a widower. Following the conclusion of two devoted marriages that lasted for thirty-two years each, Bill spent his final years at StoryPoint assisted living, where he connected with a large number of new people. Bill was an excellent storyteller, and he was well-known for his charitable nature and sweet sense of humor.
He had a deep passion for sports, particularly the Chicago Cubs. The two of them had a passion for traveling, and they would spend their winters in Mazatlán. They would cruise to every part of the world. He overcome a number of physical difficulties with courage and dedication, and he had a positive outlook on life. He made the most of each day and made the most of every opportunity.
His spirit of adventure reached its pinnacle when, on the occasion of his eightieth birthday, he enlisted the assistance of a couple of his close friends to jump out of an airplane with him. Bill is survived by his brother, Bob Hanna, and his sister, Judy Minimum; his daughter Patty Szerzinski and her husband Mark, their sons Alex and Nick, and their grandson Caden; his son Bill and his wife Marie, their daughter Bella; and his son Mike, his sons Chip and Scotty, and his granddaughters Yitzy, Mimi, and Doni. During the summer, a Celebration of Life will be held at Clear Lake, where he will be laid to rest. The Lord blesses this beautiful individual.
