William Dougher Obituary, Death; – The Red Hook Police Department is currently conducting an investigation into a deadly automobile accident that occurred on Thursday afternoon. The incident took place at approximately 3:55 p.m. on State Route 9G, just south of Peach Tree Court.
Preliminary findings indicate that a 2013 Hyundai traveling northbound on 9G crossed the double yellow lines, leading to a head-on collision with a Dodge Ram pickup truck heading south. The driver of the Hyundai, identified as 68-year-old William Dougher from Germantown, had to be extricated from his vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment before being transported to Northern Dutchess Hospital, where he was subsequently pronounced dead.
The driver of the pickup truck was taken to MidHudson Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries that were not life-threatening. State Route 9G remained closed for nearly three hours as authorities conducted their assessment of the scene.
Assistance at the scene was provided by the New York State Police, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and the Tivoli Fire Company. The investigation is still ongoing.
