HUNTERSVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The search is on for a suspect who Huntersville Police said shoved an elderly man and stole his vehicle at a local gas station.
Authorities said at 12:55 p.m. Monday, Jan. 13, a 76-year-old man was pumping gas when another man approached him and physically shoved him away from his driver’s door.
The suspect then got into the vehicle and sped away.
Huntersville Police said officers were able to locate the stolen vehicle traveling south on Statesville Road toward Exit 23. The vehicle turned onto Gilead Road and then onto I-77 SB.
As officers attempted to stop the stolen vehicle, the suspect sped away before exiting onto I-485 across a median. Officers stopped the pursuit in the interest of public safety.
The stolen vehicle is described as a white 2004 GMC Yukon, NC plate: XWF-4759. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call Huntersville Police at 704-464-5400.
