Victor Garibay Obituary, Death; – A 16-year-old has been indicted and is facing charges as an adult in relation to a shooting incident that occurred in December in Mesa, resulting in the death of a man.
The Maricopa County Attorney’s Office reports that Edgar Quintero was captured on surveillance footage shooting and killing a man named Victor Garibay in a pickup truck near the intersection of McKellips Road and Loop 202 Red Mountain Freeway on December 18. Typically, The Republic does not disclose the identities of juveniles charged with crimes unless they are being prosecuted as adults.
According to the MCAO, Quintero was observed fleeing the scene but subsequently returned to the truck, driving it away with Garibay, who was already deceased, inside. The Mesa police later discovered the abandoned truck in the desert, with Garibay still inside.
Quintero has been arrested and is currently being held on a cash-only bond set at $1 million. He faces multiple charges, including first-degree murder, armed robbery, theft of a means of transportation, abandonment or concealment of a dead body, and tampering with evidence, as outlined in the indictment.
