NEWTON, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Investigators with the Catawba County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division seized a ‘trafficking amount’ of fentanyl while assisting probation officers with the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections on Friday, Jan. 3
Officials say the seizure occurred at a residence on Hope Road in Vale. Investigators also seized 11 grams of marijuana and $1,939 in US currency.


Dirk Rodney Nixon, a resident of Hope Road was arrested and has been charged with:
- Trafficking in Fentanyl
- Maintaining a Dwelling for the Purpose of Manufacturing, Selling or Delivering a Controlled Substance
- Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell or Deliver Marijuana
- Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
- Probation Violation
Nixon received a $515,000 secured bond and had his first appearance in Catawba County District Court on Monday, Jan. 6.
