Vahid Khaledi Death – An inquiry is currently ongoing following the fatal shooting of a man at a South Texas public library during the weekend. The incident occurred shortly after the victim reportedly requested a disruptive library visitor to lower their voice. The shooting took place just past noon on Saturday, May 11, at the Brownsville Public Library on Central Boulevard. Law enforcement officers were initially called to the location due to an unspecified disturbance.
Upon reaching the scene, officers discovered a man with a gunshot wound to his head, who was declared deceased on-site. The victim was later identified as 71-year-old Vahid Khaledi.
Authorities suggest that the shooting stemmed from a verbal exchange between two library visitors. A spokesperson from the Brownsville Police Department informed MySA that Khaledi had asked the shooter to quiet down due to disruptive behavior, leading to the fatal outcome.
Khaledi’s family, residing in Houston, is currently seeking donations to repatriate his remains and manage funeral costs. A GoFundMe campaign has raised over $4,000 as of Monday, May 13.
