MATTHEWS, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — No one is hurt after a Matthews home caught fire just after midnight Wednesday, according to Matthews Fire Battalion Chief Peter Blaich.
Around 12:23 a.m. on March 19, firefighters were called to a one-story home on fire off Sam Newell Road near East Independence Boulevard. Crews got the fire under control and left just after 3 a.m.
It is unclear what sparked the blaze; however, the Mecklenburg County Fire Marshals Office is investigating. No one was in the home at the time of the fire.
The Matthews Fire Department, Idlewild Volunteer Fire Department and Charlotte Fire Department all responded.
