Tyler Campbell,Susan Campbell Obituary, Death; – A search warrant has disclosed additional information regarding Jordan Porter, a man facing charges for the deaths of a family of three during the Memorial Day weekend in Garner.
As reported by the Garner Police Department, on May 27, Porter was driving a Chevy Trailblazer westbound on U.S. 70 when he disregarded a red light at New Rand Road, colliding with a blue Mazda CX5 Select. Authorities suspect that Porter, aged 25, was under the influence of alcohol and drugs at the time of the incident.
The police confirmed that two adults in the Mazda, identified as Tyler Campbell and Susan Campbell, succumbed to their injuries at the scene. Their son, Miles, was transported to WakeMed in critical condition and was declared brain dead the following day. Miles’ organs were subsequently donated to assist others in need.
Porter, who is alleged to have been driving at 82 mph in a 45 mph zone, faces three felony counts of death by vehicle, among other charges.
Previous reports from Newschain indicated that a prior search warrant had revealed that Porter and his wife were consuming alcohol and using marijuana at Rainbow Lanes, a bowling alley in Clayton, prior to the crash. Following the accident, authorities discovered beer bottles in the vehicle. Porter’s wife, Shelby, informed the police that the car her husband was operating had not undergone inspection for several years and had issues with both steering and brakes.
On Monday, Newschain reported that Shelby Porter is under investigation for obstruction of justice. A new search warrant pertaining to Shelby Porter’s phone has revealed details of a conversation between her and her mother following the crash. During their discussion on May 27, the two women talked about deleting photographs from the mother’s phone that had been taken at Rainbow Lanes, with Shelby expressing her desire to prevent anyone from obtaining images of their activities prior to the incident. The mother responded affirmatively, stating “Yes” and “All done,” as noted in the search warrant.
Porter remains incarcerated with a bond set at $3 million and has been indicted on the charges. As of now, his wife, Shelby, has not been formally charged.
