GREER, S.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — The National Weather Service confirmed two tornadoes in the Charlotte area among the severe storms on Dec. 29.
A survey team based out of the NWS Greenville-Spartanburg office confirmed EF-0 tornadoes west of Clover, South Carolina, and in Mecklenburg County, just west of the section of Interstate 485 near the airport. Each occurred in between 9 a.m. and 9:30 that Sunday morning.
The York County tornado had peak winds of 80 mph, and the Mecklenburg one reached 65 mph.
The storm system also produced three confirmed tornadoes in Union County, S.C.
