(PINPOINT WEATHER) — Tuesday starts off frigid and cold with partly cloudy skies as lows have settled into the mid to upper 20s this Tuesday morning. Winds are light and variable and will stay that way through the peak heating hours of the day.
We can expect highs to make a run for the low 50s Tuesday afternoon underneath a mix of sun and clouds. Look for winds to settle out of the east between 3 and 8 miles per hour through most of Tuesday.
Overnight lows will dip into the 30s as a low-pressure system approaches the Carolinas on Wednesday. This will give us a dicey mid-week as winter weather moves in.

Wednesday is a Pinpoint Weather Alert Day with snow likely starting in our mountain counties between 5 & 6 AM. Uptown will see a few light snow flurries before freezing rain takes over throughout the morning into the afternoon. Points south will see freezing rain mix in with just rain through late morning and early afternoon.
Travel will be dicey from Wednesday morning into Thursday morning as slick roads and isolated power outages will be possible through Wednesday night, and some lingering icy conditions can last through Thursday.
Snow totals in our mountain counties can range from 1″ to 3” with some isolated areas seeing up to 4” on snow north of I-40. Uptown can see a dusting to half an inch of snow with less than a tenth of an inch of ice. The light glaze of ice can stretch east as well, with more in the way of rainfall likely to our south.

Thursday will be cold and windy as Wednesday’s impacts linger into the second half of the work week. Highs will be limited to the 30s on Thursday. The 40s will return on Friday as we finish off the work week with sunny and cool conditions.
We’ll gradually warm up through the weekend with partly cloudy skies and highs rebounding into the low 50s by Sunday. We’ll see sunshine and upper 50s to kick off early next week.
Tuesday: Mostly Sunny & Cool. High: 53.
Tues. Night: Cold with Building Clouds. Low: 32.
