The picturesque town of Skaneateles was rocked by tragedy on Tuesday afternoon when a fatal accident claimed the life of Christopher J. Hagan, a 37-year-old resident of Oswego. According to Jennifer L. Jiron, spokesperson for the State Police, the incident occurred at approximately 3:34 p.m. on West Lake Road.
Details of the Accident: Hagan, riding his 2021 Harley Davidson, was traveling northbound on West Lake Road when he attempted to pass a line of vehicles by maneuvering into the left lane. Unfortunately, his path intersected with a 2015 Toyota Highlander, driven by 58-year-old Christopher D. Harten of Cincinnati, Ohio, who was in the process of making a left turn into a driveway at 2433 West Lake Road.
The collision between Hagan’s motorcycle and Harten’s vehicle proved fatal, resulting in Hagan being thrown from his bike. Despite efforts to save him, Hagan succumbed to his injuries during his treatment at Upstate University Hospital.
Harten emerged from the accident unscathed, escaping without any injuries.
Remembering Christopher J. Hagan: Christopher J. Hagan’s presence was not only felt in Skaneateles but also touched the lives of many beyond its borders. His kindness, generosity, and sense of humor endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In March, Syracuse.com and NYUP.com featured an article highlighting Hagan’s compassionate nature. The piece recounted his friendship with a 15-year-old boy who had recently lost his father. Hagan, ever the compassionate soul, took the young boy under his wing, sharing with him the joys of hunting and creating lasting memories.
GoFundMe Campaign: In the wake of this tragic loss, the Hagan family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to help cover the funeral and memorial expenses. Christopher J. Hagan was a man who embodied the spirit of generosity, always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Now, it is our turn to support his family in their time of need.
Survived by his loving wife Keshia and their two children, Aubrie and Ashlyn, Christopher J. Hagan leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and compassion that will forever be cherished by all who knew him.
As the Skaneateles community grapples with the loss of one of its own, let us come together to honor the memory of Christopher J. Hagan and support his family during this difficult time.
