Tory Dunn Obituary – Investigators have identified the victim of a homicide in Surrey, B.C., as 30-year-old Tory Dunn. Four days following her death, homicide investigators are still actively canvassing the Port Kells neighborhood in search of witnesses and video surveillance to further their investigation into what they have described as a “senseless” crime.
Surrey RCMP responded to a call near the 9800 block of 182A Street around 10 p.m. PT on Sunday, where Dunn was discovered with life-threatening injuries. Despite being rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, Dunn succumbed to her injuries and passed away, despite the valiant efforts of first responders. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) was called in to lead the investigation.
IHIT has reported that a suspect was located and taken into police custody following a thorough search of the area by law enforcement officers and police dogs. The suspect is currently in custody for an unrelated charge that has not been disclosed by IHIT.
In a released statement, IHIT has disclosed Dunn’s identity to the public in hopes of advancing the investigation, emphasizing that the homicide investigation is still active and ongoing.
The homicide took place in the Port Kells neighborhood of Surrey, B.C., as confirmed by the RCMP. IHIT is collaborating with Surrey RCMP, the B.C. Coroners Service, and the Integrated Forensic Identification Service in conducting the investigation.
Staff Sgt. David Lee of IHIT expressed condolences, stating, “Our thoughts are with Tory’s family and the community. We are dedicated to progressing this investigation to uncover all the details surrounding this senseless act.”
Investigators are urging anyone with dashcam or surveillance footage from the vicinity of the 9800-block of 182A Street in Surrey to reach out to IHIT.
