RUSSIA — An official in the Ukrainian government has leveled allegations that Moscow was behind the recent military overthrow in Niger, describing the purported involvement as “standard Russian tactic.” In the eighth military takeover of the country in fewer than three years, President Mohamed Bazoum and his democratically elected cabinet were ousted by military authorities on Wednesday of this week. An adviser to the president of Ukraine named Mykhailo Podolyak stated on Tuesday that Russia was the country that was responsible for the unexpected takeover.
Podolyak published the following statement on the social media platform X, which was formerly known as Twitter: “It is now absolutely clear that Russia is behind the so-called’military coup’ in Niger.” It is a common strategy employed by the Russian government to divert attention, seize the moment, and escalate the fight. “Russia has a global scenario for provoking instability in order to undermine the global security order,” he added. “Russia has a global scenario for provoking instability.”
It is time to reach the correct conclusion: the only way to guarantee the inviolability of regulations and stability for the globe is for Putin’s clan to be removed from power and for Russia to undergo a democratic rebirth. After the coup in Niger, which was applauded by Wagner mercenary head Yevgeny Prigozhin, who has vast interests in Africa, but condemned by the majority of the globe, the Kremlin issued a statement on Monday stating that the situation in Niger was “cause for serious concern.” This came after the coup was criticized by a large portion of the world.
Dmitry Peskov, a spokesperson for the Kremlin, spoke on the phone with reporters and urged all parties involved in the conflict in Niger to exercise patience and work toward restoring legal order as quickly as possible. Prigozhin has praised the military takeover, despite the fact that the Wagner Group in Russia has not claimed responsibility for the coup.
To the dismay of Western nations, Prigozhin’s fighters have been active in a number of African governments and have most recently landed in the Central African Republic (CAR) in advance of a constitutional referendum. Prigozhin stated that what took place in Niger “is nothing other than the struggle of the people of Niger with their colonizers” in a recent audio message that was distributed through the Wagner Group’s Telegram. With colonizers who are attempting to impose their way of life and conditions on them and keep them in the same position that Africa was in hundreds of years ago.”
In addition to this, he stated that “today, this is effectively gaining their independence.” The remainder will undoubtedly be determined by the people of Niger and the efficiency with which they will manage the country, but the most important thing is that the colonizers have been expelled.
