(PINPOINT WEATHER) — We’re starting off cool this Thursday as temperatures sit in the 50s and 40s to kick off the second half of the work week and the start of the season of spring!
Winds pick up Thursday as a cold front tracks towards the Carolinas, bringing spotty showers to the Queen City. We’ll see 10 to 15-mile-per-hour winds, with gusts reaching as fast as 30 miles per hour at times. Mountain counties will see more pronounced winds Thursday and into the night as the flow shifts from the southwest to the northwest later in the day.


A Wind Advisory will be in effect for Ashe, Avery, Watauga, and northern Caldwell County through 8 AM Friday morning, as gusts can reach as fast as 50 miles per hour at times.
Rain will be relatively light but we can see a few snow showers on the back end for our mountain counties and western-facing slopes. Look for a trace of rain to at best a tenth of an inch, while higher elevations get a dusting to an inch of snow.
We’ll be cold overnight as lows dip into the 30s overnight heading into Friday. We’ll finish off the work wee dry can seasonable with mid-60s and plenty of sunshine to go around.


70s return this weekend as we stay dry Saturday & Sunday. Look for rain to return with the upper 60s moving back in heading into early next week.
