Three people, including a child, tragically died in what appears to be a murder-suicide shooting outside a Chase Bank in southwest Miami-Dade on Friday morning, according to authorities. The incident occurred in the drive-thru area of the bank located at Bird Road and 152nd Avenue. Miami-Dade Police Det. Luis Sierra reported that an on-duty sergeant heard gunshots while driving in the vicinity and responded immediately.
Upon arrival, he discovered the bodies of three individuals. According to Sierra, it seems that a woman in a minivan, with a child inside, was waiting in line at the bank’s ATM when a man in a SUV pulled up next to her and began shooting. The woman and the child were fatally shot. Subsequently, the man took his own life with a firearm. “It appears to be that he opened fire on the minivan and then opened fire on himself,” Sierra explained. The child, whose exact age is unknown, was found deceased in a car seat within the minivan, police confirmed.
At the scene, a silver BMW SUV was visible, surrounded by yellow crime scene tape, as seen in footage from the area. As of the initial report, the identities of the deceased have not been disclosed. Homicide detectives are actively investigating to establish the relationship between the three individuals. “We don’t know familial ties yet, homicide is on scene, they are investigating,” Sierra stated. The investigation into this tragic incident is ongoing, and further details will be released as they become available
