Thomas Sutton,James B. Erickson Obituary, – Authorities are currently investigating two separate traffic incidents that resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The most recent incident occurred on Saturday at around 12:45 p.m. on Route 6 at West Washington Street Extension in Wayne Township, near Corry. A 76-year-old woman from New York was driving a Ford Escape west on Route 6 and attempted to make a left turn, colliding with a motorcycle traveling east.
The motorcyclist, identified as Thomas Sutton, 67, of Erie, was taken to UPMC Hamot and later succumbed to his injuries. The earlier accident took place on Friday at approximately 2:10 p.m. in the eastbound lanes of I-90 in McKean Township, close to the Route 832/Sterrettania exit. A 57-year-old motorcyclist, James B. Erickson from Stockton, New York, lost control of his motorcycle while traveling west on I-90, crossed the median, and collided with oncoming traffic.
Erickson was thrown from his motorcycle and struck by a Dodge Ram, resulting in his death. The other motorists involved were unharmed. The eastbound lanes of I-90 were shut down between Route 832 and the Route 98/Fairview exit as emergency crews responded to the scene on Friday.
