Terryoun Mays Obituary – A 17-year-old teenager passed away after sustaining injuries in an accident shortly after the Indianapolis police stopped pursuing a car he was in, while investigating a group of armed teenagers. The officers from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department were alerted to the presence of a group of young males brandishing firearms in the downtown area. Upon arrival, the officers initiated a foot chase after the teens, leading to the apprehension of one juvenile male, while the others in the group remained at large.
Subsequently, analysts at IMPD’s Real Time Crime Center observed a person known to be prohibited from possessing firearms entering the driver’s seat of a parked car, carrying a gun. Two other juveniles were passengers in the car, including the deceased 17-year-old Terryoun Mays. After the car left the downtown area, responding officers from IMPD attempted a traffic stop, which led to a pursuit.
The driver initially stopped and pulled over, but failed to comply with further commands and drove away. The pursuit was eventually terminated after officers lost sight of the car. Shortly after, the officers discovered that the suspect car had crashed and overturned. The driver and two passengers, including Mays, were transported to a local hospital with critical injuries.
Tragically, Mays succumbed to his injuries. The Marion County Coroner confirmed his passing. Accident investigators were called to the scene to conduct an investigation, during which two guns, a drum-style magazine, and several bullets were reportedly found inside the car.
