Taylor Binnington Obituary, Death; – A tragic incident occurred on Saturday morning when a father from Connecticut and his infant son lost their lives in a multi-vehicle accident on Interstate 91, triggered by a sudden snow squall that resulted in perilous driving conditions.
According to Vermont State Police, 39-year-old Taylor Binnington from North Haven, CT, was traveling northbound near mile marker 33 when his Hyundai IONIQ 5 lost traction on the icy surface and struck the rear of a stationary fuel tanker. Binnington was declared dead at the scene. His four-month-old son, Parry Lake, sustained severe injuries and was airlifted to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, where he subsequently passed away.
The child’s mother, 36-year-old Evelyn Lake, along with their three-year-old son, who were also passengers in the vehicle, survived the incident with injuries that were not life-threatening. Both were transported by ambulance to Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center for medical attention.
Investigators indicated that the crash was part of a chain reaction resulting from worsening conditions on the highway. Several vehicles had already skidded off the road or been involved in minor collisions when a 2024 Peterbilt fuel tanker halted due to the traffic congestion. Binnington’s Hyundai was unable to stop in time, leading to the collision with the tanker.
The tanker driver, 40-year-old Michael Warner from Nelson, NH, was unharmed, and his vehicle incurred only minor damage. Authorities noted that snow and ice were significant factors in the accident, and first responders from various agencies, including local fire departments and emergency medical teams, were present at the scene for several hours.
The investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
