Tammy King Obituary, Death; – A 17-year-old girl from Texas collaborated with her 19-year-old boyfriend to murder her grandmother, subsequently fleeing and initiating a “multi-jurisdictional manhunt,” according to law enforcement officials.
Tammy King, aged 61, was shot by her granddaughter, Tara King, and Tara’s boyfriend, Uriah Urick, within the residence located in the Bacliff area on 15th Street, as reported by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office. Both individuals have been charged with capital murder.
The elder King was discovered deceased on Thursday by deputies conducting a welfare check after a close friend expressed concern over her lack of communication. A nationwide search for Tara King and Urick commenced on Friday, with their images disseminated on Facebook by the sheriff’s office.
“The Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating these individuals for questioning,” stated a press release. “We are currently pursuing all leads and taking every necessary measure to clarify this tragic situation.”
On Sunday, the sheriff’s office reported the apprehension of Tara King and Urick in Laredo earlier that day. “The suspects were captured following an extensive investigation and a multi-jurisdictional manhunt,” law enforcement officials stated. “The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are committed to ensuring justice for the victim.”
Tara King, identified as the victim’s granddaughter by local ABC affiliate KTRK, is a student at Dickinson High School in Dickinson, while Urick reportedly resided with her and her grandmother in Bacliff. Images obtained by KTRK and local CBS affiliate KHOU depict the teenage couple together.
Tammy King had not been in contact for a week prior to the welfare check at her residence, and the exact timing of her death remains unclear.
