KUTV, Salt Lake City The Salt Lake Bees confirmed the death of Steve Klauke, 69, a well-known personality in Utah sports media and the team’s voice for over 30 seasons. Following his 29th season with the Bees, Klauke announced his retirement in September 2023.
The manner of Klauke’s death was not disclosed in statements from the Larry H. Miller Company or the Salt Lake Bees. 2News is investigating those specifics. “Steve Klauke was a world-class broadcaster and a dedicated long-time employee,” stated Salt Lake Bees owner Gail Miller, who also co-founded the Miller Company. “Steve will forever be remembered as ‘the voice of the Bees’ and holds a special place in our hearts.”
She also offered prayers and condolences for Klauke’s wife, Sue, and their two children, Adam and Lisa. “We will always treasure and honor the immeasurable impact he had on the sports community in Utah and beyond,” she said. CEO of the Larry H. Miller Company, Steve Starks, described Klauke as “a friend, a fan, and an incredible sportscaster,” citing his immense influence on the community.
