Stephen Mark Peterman Obituary – Days following the fatal shooting of a man in northwest Austin, court records have unveiled fresh information regarding the incident. An affidavit disclosed that Stephen Mark Peterman, aged 49, was letting his dog out just before the shooting occurred on Amarillo Avenue.
Law enforcement discovered Peterman lying on the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he passed away at the scene. Peterman’s wife mentioned in the affidavit that her husband typically let their dog out early in the morning. On the day of the incident, she heard a series of gunshots outside their residence. A total of six shots were fired, and Peterman’s body was found near his white work truck. A peace officer from the Travis County Sheriff’s Office speculated that Peterman caught sight of the suspect attempting to break into his vehicle, resulting in the shooting.
The affidavit identified the suspect as 36-year-old William Jewel Daniels from San Antonio. Law enforcement confirmed Daniels’ vehicle was captured on a neighbor’s security camera. Subsequently, detectives utilized license plate readers to locate Daniels’ vehicle approximately two miles away from the crime scene. Daniels was apprehended and charged with Peterson’s murder. He is currently detained in Travis County Jail under a $1 million bond.
