Stefano Barrasso Obituary, Death Cause – After a protracted illness, Stefano M. “Stef” Barrasso of Reading passed away on July 29. beloved child of Franca (Cardeti) Barrasso- Morgan and Anthony Barrasso, who passed away in Reading.
Brother of Sheila Connors of Reading and beloved fiancé of Daniel “Dewey” Barrasso of California. In addition, Stefano is survived by a number of devoted cousins and other relatives. Stefano was reared in Reading with his brother Danny after being born in Somerville, and while he was a student there, he became well-known for his quick wit, grin, and huge social circle.
Many of his childhood friends considered “Stef,” as he was affectionately known, to be a great friend. These friendships persisted as he got drunk in the old Marshalls parking lot as a teenager and later met them for beers at Kitty’s after work, always remembering to bring takeout for Sheila.
His aunts and uncles in particular were very dear to him, and he relied on them after his father went away while Stef was in his mid-teens. Stefano spent many years driving for various local businesses in the paving, towing, delivery, and construction industries. Most recently, he drove a concrete mixer for Benevento in Wilmington. You were aware of Stef’s uniqueness when he was in your presence.
Everyone who knew, loved, and valued his friendship will always miss him. You and Andy behave, so you may relax, my friend “cuz”. On Monday, August 7th, at 9:30am, Stef’s funeral will leave the Cota Family Funeral Home, 335 Park St. (corner of Park St. and Rte. 28), NORTH READING at the Reading line, followed by a funeral liturgy at St. Athanasius Church, 300 Haverhill St., Reading. Private graves will be used for burial.
On Sunday, August 6th, from 2 to 6 pm, relatives and friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home. Please don’t send flowers; instead, make a donation in Stefano’s honor to the MSPCA-Angel at 350 South Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02130, Attention: Donations.
