Spartanburg Shooting; South Carolina Home Occupying Mother and Daughter Caught on Camera After Shot by 5 Assailants
Spartanburg, South Carolina —
After five attackers were seen on camera breaking into a mother and daughter’s house, the Spartanburg Police Department opened an investigation.
Around 8:35 p.m. on Saturday, September 21, officers were called to a residence on Westmoreland Street within the city limits of Spartanburg, South Carolina, in reference to a shooting incident.
Officers found broken glass and a bullet embedded in the top frame of the storm door when they arrived at the scene.
The homeowner told police that she heard several gunshots while she was in the living room during the shooting incident. After the gunfire ceased, the mother stayed on the ground and promptly went to her daughter’s bedroom to see how she was doing. The mother claimed that although her daughter was not hurt, she was lying in bed at the time of the occurrence.
The woman said that this was the second time in the previous six months that something similar had occurred, but she was unsure of who would have done it. According to the event report, she claimed she didn’t see anyone, hear words, or hear cars leave the scene after the gunfire.
The officer saw many bullet holes in the daughter’s bedroom, including a little one in a “Little Mermaid” picture frame right above her bed, as well as gunshot damage to the window next to the front door and a bullet hole through it.
The daughter reported hearing many gunshots, and as the bullets struck the wall behind her, pieces of the wall collapsed on top of her.
A neighbor of the victim was able to capture the shooting on camera. The officer saw five attackers firing unidentified firearms at the residence in the footage. At the time of the shooting, four out of the five suspects were dressed in black clothing, while the fifth may have been dressed entirely in gray. All five of the suspects, according to the officer, left the scene on foot and headed south on the street.
Over 20 shells, the majority of which are 9 mm, were found at the scene, according to the incident report.
Although there isn’t a description of the perpetrators, authorities think the homeowner’s grandson might have been the intended victim of the gunshot.
As of right now, there is no additional information available.
