Shooting In Vineland NJ Today – Police determined that a shooting at a Vineland, New Jersey hospital on Saturday morning was self-inflicted. Authorities responded to Inspira Medical Center on W. Sherman Avenue at about 8:40 a.m. for reports of an active shooter. When police arrived, they determined there was not an active shooter but that there was an isolated incident within the hospital. There was a brief lockdown at the hospital, but that has since been lifted. There is no danger to patients, staff, or visitors at the facility, police said. “This was an isolated incident. The firearm was immediately secured by our security team and no others were physically harmed,” officials said in a statement.

Vineland police were called to East Birch Street Friday morning and say they encountered a man with a knife. The prosecutor’s office says the 28-year-old man ran at an officer and the officer fired two shots. The man is said to be in stable condition. He’s charged with attempted homicide and aggravated assault. The other victim was treated for their injuries and released from the hospital.
Police are investigating after a patient shot and killed himself inside Inspira Medical Center early Saturday, an incident that sparked an initial police response to a possible “active shooter” situation. Kathy Scullin, vice president for marketing for Inspira Health Network, confirmed the death of a man inside the West Sherman Avenue hospital. His name was not immediately made public, however. “We understand that an incident occurred at approximately 8:40 this morning at Inspira Medical Center Vineland, and a patient sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound while under our care,” Scullin said Saturday afternoon. “It’s an isolated incident. The firearm was immediately secured by our security department and no others were harmed. And the police are on site. They secured the campus. And Vineland police has the investigation.”

The Attorney General’s Shooting Response Team is conducting an investigation into the circumstances of a fatal police-involved shooting of a man yesterday afternoon in Vineland. The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. Thursday in the parking lot of Just for Wheels Car, Truck and Van Rental at 2587 South Delsea Drive in Vineland. According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting occurred when detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office and Lower Township Police Department encountered the male subject as they were conducting a law enforcement operation at the scene.
The subject was shot by one of the detectives. He was taken by ambulance to Inspira Medical Center in Vineland, where he was pronounced dead. None of the detectives were injured. The deceased man has been identified as Jacob Servais, 19, of Millville, N.J. The investigation is ongoing and no further information is being released at this time. In New Jersey, all investigations of police deadly force incidents are governed by the Attorney General’s Independent Prosecutor Directive, issued in 2006 and strengthened in 2015, which establishes strict procedures for conducting such investigations.
