Shooting: WITN/GOLDSBORO, North Carolina, Two gunshot incidents involving one fatality and one injury are being looked into by Goldsboro police. Officers responded to a complaint of gunfire in the 1600 block of South John Street just before 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Officers discovered a person who seemed to have been shot; Tysher Davis, 18, was subsequently identified as the victim. After receiving care at UNC Health Wayne, he was sent to ECU Health in Greenville, where his condition is considered fair.
Following that gunshot, a second report of an unresponsive individual in the 300 block of Hollowell Street was received. When the police came, they saw a car with a person inside who seemed to have been shot dead. Vorteryahj Sanders, who was 21 years old, was the person who died. According to the police, Sanders was involved in the shooting on South John Street as a result of their investigation.
According to the police, the two victims knew one another and are thought to have engaged in combat before the shooting.
At this point, no more information is available as this is an ongoing inquiry.
