Sherly Lynn Hollenkamp Obituary, Death; – A man from Shepherdsville received his sentence on Wednesday for his role in a devastating car accident in 2022 that resulted in the death of his girlfriend. William McCorkle faced charges of murder, assault, failure to maintain insurance, and operating a vehicle while under the influence.
During the sentencing proceedings, it was disclosed that McCorkle was in a relationship with the woman who lost her life in the incident. The accident occurred in January 2022 at the intersection of Preston Highway and Cooper Chapel Road. His girlfriend, Sherly Lynn Hollenkamp, tragically died in the crash, and several others sustained injuries.
Authorities ultimately determined that McCorkle was at fault for the accident. In her remarks during sentencing, Judge Jessica Green highlighted McCorkle’s prior history of DUI offenses, which included two alcohol intoxication charges in 2006, as well as DUIs in 2006, 2007, and 2013.
“You had numerous opportunities to seek treatment and make changes before you destroyed your life and the life of another,” she stated. Judge Green sentenced McCorkle to five years of probation, indicating that his true punishment would be a lifetime burden of guilt.
