The Whittemore community and Kossuth County lost a great man early this morning to a criminal no one appears to be able to stop. Stephen “Steve” Kollasch, our dear friend and former Kossuth County Sheriff, died quietly at home at the age of 60 after a fight with cancer. It would be fruitless to try to enumerate all of the things and causes Steve was involved in.
Heartfelt Tribute/Funeral Details
He was a cherished family member and public servant who will never be replaced. He served as a Whittemore firefighter, and his equipment is on display at the WFD Station in his honor. Wake services will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at St Michael’s Catholic Church, followed by a funeral Mass on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Thank you for your service, Sheriff Kollasch.
