The shooting occurred at around 11:45 p.m. on Thursday in the parking lot of the Manokeek Village shopping center in Accokeek.
The victims have been identified as Sheldon Proctor, a 48-year-old resident of Waldorf, and Patrick Savoy, a 55-year-old resident of Charlotte Hall. She described him as a good person and expressed her sorrow at his untimely death. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact the police and ask to speak with a Homicide Unit detective.
It is worth noting that this shooting follows a similar incident last month in District Heights, where a 26-year-old individual was fatally shot at another car meetup. Two individuals from Virginia have since been charged in connection with that incident. The authorities in Maryland have been raising concerns about the safety of these street meetups for several months, leading to legislative action.
