According to a statement from California Polytechnic State University, a college track standout who set numerous records there has passed away. The athletic department of the university posted a statement on Instagram on Friday, expressing their deep sadness over the loss of the former athlete, who they claimed had a remarkable heart.
Cal Poly did not disclose the reason for the demise. Daniele, a six-time All-Big West selection, two-time Big West champion, and Cal Poly team captain, earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the university. In addition to placing highly in the school’s 60- and 100-meter indoor events, she owns the school record for the indoor 200-meter run, clocking in at 24.69 seconds.
Daniele opted to concentrate on agriculture because, as her LinkedIn profile states, she wanted to “improve the environment and give back to our society”. Shelby was twenty-three.
