Sharon Ries Obituary News: Raul Ries Wife Passes Away, Calvary Chapel Golden Springs Mourns
Sharon Ries, the wife of Raul Ries, pastor of Calvary Chapel Golden Springs in Diamond Bar, CA, has passed away, at age 76. She died early Sunday, May 5, morning, following long battle with cancer. Growing up in Chile and in a remote Colombian jungle mission, escaping a bloody revolutionary war as a girl, returning to the mission as a young mother to establish a Bible school, surviving deadly mudslides on short-term missions, and encouraging thousands of women on several continents in their walk with Christ are some of the things that those who are close to Sharon, the wife of Pastor Raul Ries, have described as being her extraordinary life story for Christ.
Sharon had a remarkably longer life span than the medical professionals had anticipated before she passed away. She is reminded of the crucifix among the excruciating operations. The fact that the Lord has touched those around her even during her most vulnerable moments at the hospital has left her in a state of awe. She is the author of the book “My Husband, My Maker,” in which she describes how the Lord personally sustained her through a turbulent marriage, the duties of ministry, the dangers of serving in the mission field, and the loneliness of motherhood.
Recounting the day that He promised to restore the crumbling mission in the bush and placed a call on her heart to reconstruct it is something that she has done very frequently. For a number of seasons, Sharon was subjected to harsh attacks from the demons. To a great many of us, Sharon is almost like a mother, and to our daughters, she is like a grandmother. During miscarriages and other calamities, she has been there for women’s support. We are mourning the loss of a beloved mother of faith, and the veil that had been separating heaven and earth has finally parted.
