On Thursday, law enforcement officials provided an update on the ongoing investigation, revealing that 28-year-old Courtney Franklin has been named as a suspect. He is currently wanted under a warrant that charges him with multiple offenses, including murder, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, carrying a pistol without a permit, illegal discharge of a firearm, first-degree reckless endangerment, and tampering with physical evidence.
Upon responding to reports of a shooting and disturbance that night in May, police discovered three victims. A 39-year-old woman and a 44-year-old woman were treated at a hospital and subsequently released. However, Shaquille Morris, 29, of Waterbury, succumbed to his injuries, according to police reports.
Family members indicated that he was fatally shot while preparing food for a Mother’s Day brunch. Preliminary investigations suggest that two private parties were taking place at the venue, and a disturbance arose between attendees of each gathering prior to the shooting. Authorities believe that individuals from both parties were acquainted with one another.
