Shannon Laird Death Ponca City, OK Obituary – A tragic car accident on the night of March 28, 2025, has taken the life of Shannon Laird, a 37-year-old woman from Ponca City, Oklahoma. The collision occurred at around 11:48 p.m. at the intersection of US-77 and Coleman Road, just north of Ponca City. Laird was driving a 2009 Pontiac when she failed to yield at a stop sign while heading west on Coleman Road, causing her car to be struck by a 2023 Hyundai driven by 69-year-old Orville Wilks.

The crash resulted in an intense impact, with Laird’s vehicle being struck on the driver’s side. The force of the collision sent both vehicles into the center median, where Laird’s car caught fire. Despite the swift arrival of emergency responders, Laird was tragically trapped in her vehicle for approximately three hours before being extricated. Unfortunately, she was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both Wilks and his passenger, Randy Wilks, sustained minor injuries in the crash. After receiving treatment at Integris Health in Ponca City, they were released. At this time, local authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the accident.

The community is grieving this devastating loss. Our thoughts are with Shannon Laird’s family and friends as they navigate this incredibly difficult time. The accident also serves as a reminder for all drivers to be vigilant and exercise caution on the roads, especially at intersections.
