Shane Webb Obituary, – An inquiry is currently being conducted after a fatal incident involving a single vehicle in Huron County. According to officials from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the incident occurred on Monday, June 17, at approximately 11:27 p.m. on West River Road in Wakeman. OSHP reports indicate that a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, traveling southbound on West River Road, veered off the right side of the road and collided with a culvert storm drain cover.
In a press release, the Ohio State Highway Patrol stated, “The Jeep became airborne and flipped multiple times before colliding with a large raised flower bed, a fence post, and a tree. The Jeep eventually came to a stop in a private driveway on the west side of West River Road.”
The driver, identified as 37-year-old Shane Webb from Willard, was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle. Unfortunately, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Preliminary investigations suggest that alcohol, drugs, and excessive speed may have contributed to the accident.
Assisting the Ohio State Highway Patrol in their investigation were the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, Wakeman Fire Department, Wakeman Police Department, Citizens Ambulance, and Interstate Towing. The investigation into the crash is still ongoing at this time.
