A former baseball player at Southwest Minnesota State University and sales representative at Rambow Inc. . has died tragically. Shane Sellner was a certified coach and community member in Minnesota. Shane Sellner passed away after a medical emergency this week.
Who Was Shane Sellner?
Shane Sellner was a resident of Mankato, Minn. Born on Nov. 10, 1995. He was respected and known in the Minnesota, Willmar, New London, and Mankato, MN, communities. He was a graduate of Mankato Loyola Catholic High School and Southwest Minnesota State University. Shane Sellner was a dedicated father and the loyal son of Rick and Traci Sellner. The Mankato Loyola High School 2014 graduate was a former Southwest Minnesota State University baseball player. He was also a certified sports management major with a coaching minor.
Shane Sellner Achievements’
Shane Sellner played for John Landkamer and was a four-time all-conference honoree, a twice-named all-city, batted .529 with three home runs and 24 RBIs as a senior. Shane Sellner set a school record for batting average in his career. He was a 400-hitter with eight home runs, and also letter winner in both football and hockey. He was an honorable mention all-conference in both football and hockey. He was a team captain in football, hockey and baseball.
Until his death, Shane Sellner worked as a Sales Representative at Rambow, Inc.
Waterville Indians: It is with a heavy heart that we share that we have lost a brother. Shane Sellner was a father, husband, brother, son, friend and teammate. His sudden passing has left us feeling empty and with an irreplaceable hole. So many questions, no answers, and no words to make any of it make sense. Shane will be missed greatly.
The many memories on the field are a shadow of the memories off the field that we’ve been lucky enough to have. Gone way too soon. Our thoughts and prayers are with Amanda and Isaac, Rick, Traci, Bobbi and Luke. When things like this happen, we are reminded that this is about way more than baseball.
