Shane Golden Obituary, Death; – The Colorado Springs police have released the identity of the motorcyclist who tragically lost his life on March 12 in a collision at the intersection of North Academy Boulevard and Rebecca Lane.
The deceased motorcyclist has been named as 31-year-old Shane Golden. The incident occurred just before 8:15 p.m., prompting police to respond to reports of a crash involving a motorcycle and a pickup truck. Upon their arrival, authorities found the motorcyclist deceased, while the driver of the pickup had fled the scene.
Subsequently, police identified and apprehended 22-year-old David Medina as the alleged driver of the pickup. He faces charges of driving under the influence and hit-and-run resulting in death.
Investigators believe that both speed and alcohol may have played significant roles in the accident, which is still under active investigation. As of Wednesday morning, Medina remained in custody at the El Paso County jail. His initial court appearance is set for 1:30 p.m. on Thursday in district court. Golden marks the fourth traffic fatality in Colorado Springs for the year.
