Shane was born on March 24, 1974, in Breckenridge, MN, to Merril and Gloria (Goolsbey) Decker. He spent his formative years in Milnor, ND, where he proudly held the school record for single-game rushing yards as a standout athlete for the Milnor Bison. After graduating from Milnor High School in 1992, Shane pursued higher education at Mayville State University in North Dakota. He later attended the Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science, graduating in 1996. Shane’s career in funeral service began in Oakes, ND, at Dahlstrom Funeral Home. It quickly became clear that Shane had a special gift for this line of work. His dedication and empathy greatly benefited many grieving families, earning him a reputation as a compassionate and skilled funeral director.
The community will have the opportunity to pay their respects and celebrate Shane’s life at a series of services planned in his honor. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Morris Area Elementary School Concert Hall in Morris. Prior to the service, there will be a visitation on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, from 3 to 7 pm at Pedersen Funeral Home in Morris, with a time of sharing beginning at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday from 10 to 11 am at the school. Shane will be laid to rest at Lakeside Cemetery near Hancock, MN. Shane’s passing has left a void in the lives of many.
