Shamone Duncan,Dario Stubbs Obituary, Death; – A deputy from Cook County was tragically killed in a double homicide on Saturday night while vacationing in the Turks and Caicos Islands, as reported by authorities. According to the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force, two individuals were shot and killed around 10 p.m. near a well-known restaurant on Grace Bay Road.
Law enforcement and medical personnel responded to reports of gunfire in the area of a bar along Grace Bay Road. Three individuals were discovered with gunshot wounds; one succumbed to injuries at the scene, while the other passed away at the hospital. The deceased have been identified as Shamone Duncan, 50, a 20-year veteran of the Cook County Department of Corrections, and Dario Stubbs, 30, a resident of the Turks and Caicos. A third victim, a 29-year-old man, is currently receiving medical treatment.
Authorities have stated that there is no indication that Duncan or the other victims were the intended targets of the shooting.
“I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of the deceased. The RT&CIPF will continue to offer support resources to those affected by these tragic events. We denounce this violence and are committed to pursuing those responsible for this heinous act,” stated the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force. The sheriff’s office released a statement saying:
“Our hearts are heavy for the family of Deputy Shamone Duncan, who lost her life on January 18 while on vacation. She served for 20 years with the Cook County Department of Corrections and was assigned to Cermak Health Services. We are in communication with her family to offer any necessary support during this challenging time and are also providing assistance to her colleagues as they cope with this devastating news.”
The RT&CIPF is urging anyone who may have been in the area at the time of the incident to come forward with information, including witness accounts, video evidence, or any other relevant details, by contacting the Serious Crime Unit at 231-1842 or Crime Stoppers at 1800-8477 to provide information anonymously regarding these events.
